Community Development through Polytechnic
The Ministry of HRD, Government of India selected our Polytechnic for introducing Community Polytechnic Scheme in the year 1994. The scheme is for the upliftment of the rural folk living in and around the Institution.

5 Extension centers in nearby villages was established to train people in various courses such as Garment making, Typewriting, TV servicing, Computer Hardware, DTP, Repairing and Servicing of Domestic Appliances, Screen printing, Manufacturing of candle, Phenol, Liquidblue, Mushroom cultivation etc.  Manpower Development and Training : Approximately 8390 persons have been trained and 5512 employed.
 
Having successfully implemented the scheme of Community Polytechnic for nearly three decades, the ministry of Human Resource development New Delhi, introduced the scheme of CDTP in our institution in 2009. The scheme of CDTP was an improvement of the erstwhile scheme of community polytechnics. Activities undertaken during the year 2010-2011 are :
   
  - Skill development training at Main centre and Extension centres
  - Dissemination and Application of Appropriate technology
  - Technical & Support services
  - Awareness programmers
   

30 skill development training programs were conducted at 7 Extension centres. A total number of 750 rural candidates were trained by the various courses.

Our extension centers are Kovilpalayam, Ganeshapuram, Annur, Sirumugai, Mettupalayam, Karamadai & Jothipuram villages.
