Our Correspondent Smt. Nandini Rangaswamy inaugurated the modernized Electronics & Communication Engineering Laboratories.

On 20.1.10 for the effective use of the students to gain modernized practical knowledge and cater the needs of the rapid developing Electronics & Communication Engineering field  in the challenging globalized scenario.

Garment Technology block was inaugurated on 6th February 2006 by our Correspondent Smt.Nandini Rangaswamy. The five different sections include cutting, sewing and embroidery, Ironing, Packing & testing. Excel color matching cabinet and Excel pilling testers and various automatic sewing machines are also provided to cater to the needs of the rapid developing globalised garment industries.

Modern laboratories include Electronics, Electronic Communication, Instrumentation and Control, Digital Electronics, Electrical Machines, Simulation, State - of - art Computer center with Internet connectivity, Textile Processing, Finishing, Testing and Garment Technologies. Language laboratory for enhancing English communication skills is also available.

Extra-curricular activities like NSS, YRC, Eco-Watch Club, Fine Arts, Sports and Games are available. First advisory meeting of Red Ribbon Club was inaugurated on 3rd March 2006. Aids eradication programme was conducted. Dr. Mahadevan from Coimbatore Medical College gave a special lecture with the help of LCD specifying statistical details of patients inflicted by AIDS.

The Hostel covers a wide area providing all possible facilities to make the students feel secure and homely. Transport facilities are provided to all students and staff.

To support the academic requirements of the staff and students, our college has a well-stocked Library having separate stacking and reading areas. To update their knowledge at international levels, current journals related to their selective discipline are subscribed.

Games:
Extensive and well maintained playground available for excellent participation in Games and Sports. Our students enthusiastically participate in the district and state level IPAA meet and add fame to our institution.

Community Polytechnic Scheme
The Ministry of HRD, Government of India selected our Polytechnic for introducing Community Polytechnic Scheme in the year 1994. The scheme is for the upliftment of the rural folk living in and around the Institution.

5 Extension centers in nearby villages was established to train people in various courses such as Garment making, Typewriting, TV servicing, Computer Hardware, DTP, Repairing and Servicing of Domestic Appliances, Screen printing, Manufacturing of candle, Phenol, Liquidblue, Mushroom cultivation etc.  Manpower Development and Training : Approximately 8390 persons have been trained and 5512 employed.
 
Transfer of Technology

Under this activity demonstration on various technologies like smokeless chullah, Bio-gas, Windmill, Food processing, Bio-mas gasifer modern agricultural equipments, vermi composit Mushroom cultivation, sericulture etc were undertaken. The above technologies were taught and extended support to get subsidies from the government. Totally 2760 people were benefited by this activity.
 
Technical services

Inorder to ensure that technical services made available to the rural people, technical service camps are being held at regular intervals at our various extensions where people are getting free repair services for their gadgets. So far 1334 persons were benefited.
 
Support services

The various support services like health camp, eye camp, social forestry, Dental camp, rain water harvesting, polio immunization programmes, health awareness for the school children, preparing project report, arranging loan and wages employment for our trainees, helped for getting free sewing machines from government etc were undertaken. For these activities collaboration had been established with various agencies like primary health centers, hospitals, lion club, local panchayat etc. so far 34,714 children and people were benefited.
 
Dissemination of Information

Seminars, exhibitions, pamphlets distribution, video film shows about the various technologies were carried on at regular interval to disseminate the information among the people. More than 153 villages were covered by this activity.
